online defensive driving

I'm doing this online defensive driving course for my speeding ticket, and it is the most boring thing ever. I'll read a page about whether it is good or bad to drive after drinking, then waint until some timer runs out before I can see the next page (so that they can make sure it takes the statutory six hours). Occasionally they'll show old video clips of mid 1980s public service announcements. Just to show how old these are, this is a picture of how to use the brakes.

This is wrong on so many levels: the shoe, the sock, the fact they we need a visual aid for "put your foot on the pedal."

True story:
The second (2nd!) time my sister got in the car with her learner's permit, the first thing she did after putting her seatbelt on was ask "OK, which one is the gas pedal?"

On a more personal note, what are you doing with a picture of my sock and shoe on your blog?

i did that online course, too & it was excrutiating waiting for that stupid clock. i'd go in the other room to watch tv or something & forget about it, so it took me a million years to finish. and of course, i waited until the day before the deadline (it's not like i had 3 months of anything), so i paid extra to have my certificate overnighted to me. of course, i found out later that getting a 2 week extension is no big deal & i could have saved that $20.

Steve: I think owning such a shoe and sock is something you were supposed to report to the Texas Board of Law Examiners; you might not be admitted to the Bar if you ever wear them in public.

RHM: I'll have to keep that extension in mind since it will probably take me more than 90 days to get off the couch and go see a notary.

P-Man: If you thought the waint was funny, you should have seen me trying to post an image without taking my eyes off the clock.
