Simmons & Fletcher
I saw a commercial this morning for Simmons & Fletcher. It was the standard personal injury firm ad, except it ended with "Christian trial lawyers." This bothers me in two ways. First of all, why do I give a rat's ass about the religion of my lawyer? Are they going to cite 2nd Corinthians before a judge? The next problem is that I don't like business that use God to sell their goods. I doubt Jesus cares if you buy dirt from "His Soils" on I-45 (the ad is complete with a picture of Christ with the crown of thorns, as though he was thinking "when I get back in three days, I'm going to but some nice dirt to start a garden". Another is a plumbing service with that Jesus-fish sign on it. How does one unclog a drain in a Christ-like manner? Will the plumber turn water into Drain-o?
I'm not telling people to be embarrassed about being religious, because that's a good thing. Just don't try to use faith in God to sell stuff; for God's sake, show some respect. That must be the first time I've used "for God's sake" in a literal sense.

Amen. If someone puts "Christian" in their business name, they had better go well beyond what's normally expected in terms of service, quality, price, etc. I mean WAY beyond. I think it's a bad idea both theologically and practically, because how could a business constantly live up to that level? I would never put a Christian bumper sticker on my car, because I'm often not a very nice driver, and I sure don't need to be implicating Jesus in my driving habits.
But lawyers doing it--that's even worse. I know there are passages in the New Testament that tell Christians not to sue other Christians--how do they reconcile that?
I believe what they are trying to explain is that they will work for you and do the right thing, instead of the ambulance chansing style, and maybe if you did put a Christian bumper sticker on your car you may think twice about conducting road rage,we would appreicate it. I don't think they are saying they are perfect at all.
If you read the biographies of the lawyers on the Simmons and Fletcher site, you will see that each of them has a very strong Christian faith. I personally see nothing wrong with it.
you STUPID ass!!!!!! you will never understand the message they are putting out!!!! EVER!!!!! i worked for them for 2 years--they are not selling christ/jesus/or GOD!!!!! for that matter!! i was raised with religion-in a church--loving my religion because my grandfather stood at that pulpit--never missed it --loved the sermams--would not miss them for anything!!!!! BUT---GET IT!!!!! BUT-- I STILL DO NOT BELIEVE--never will-that someone holds my life, destiny, happiness, or future in his hands!!!!! --not one person can take on this whole world like that --- some consider me AGNOSTIC some consider me ATHEIST--whatever you believe is what you believe-- the only reason they say CHRISTIAN TRIAL LAWYERS is because all the attorneys believe in god/jesus/religion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They hold prayer meetings during business hours and ALL the attorneys go to church religiously!!! It doesn't matter what we believe its what THEY believe when they fight your case in court!! they truely believe GOD will prevail to help the innocent that have been wronged and you know what??? GOOD for them!!! whether i believe the same--o-well--who cares!!!! Have a wreck that kills your kids or your husband or your brother or sister or wife--YOUR KIDS you selfish ass--then you would want GOD and whoever you would call on - on your side & take it from me you jaded ass bitch--i don't believe in GOD or all the above but let someone mess with my kids---please!!!!any GOD can step in and if he has a grudge against me for my belief---let someone who does believe be on MY SIDE!!!!!!!!!! SELFISH!!!!!!
It's pure idiotic. So since God is supposedly on your side, what do they do when they lose the case? Oh, i see, it will be God moves in mysterious ways. Just a way of reinforcing that religion is just bull crap.
It is difficult to understand why someone who is a Christian will advertise his/her righteouness. But live and let live, I believe.
The harsh and profane comments preceeding this are an indication of persons unable to express thoughts in good English. How sad.

So its o.k. for EVERY politician to talk about their faith during their campaigns but not o.k. for attorneys to talk about Christian ETHICS as guiding their practice? Simmons and Fletcher is not selling legal services based on their religious beliefs but they are telling the public that their ethical foundation is Christianity and the teachings of the Bible, not merely the Rules of Professional Conduct. The practice of the law would be more civil and less laughable if more attorneys took their faith to work.
Lisa...
you must be really hurt to deliver such words. unforgiveness is a blinding disease which threatens your eternity. I sincerely hope you find forgiveness, give forgiveness and you would then see clearly to sort out the essentials in life...
God Bless.
It is not a matter of using Christ to sell legal services. It is about elevating the name of Jesus Christ in all that you do. So many put on their Christian hat when they go to Church, but then they take it off when they go to work, or hang with their friends, or they sit in traffic, or they deal with the customer service rep. in paying their bills.
Can a plumber unclog a drain in a Christlike manner? Yes--if he does it and then reports to the homeowner exactly what he did and charges only the agreed price for that versus telling the homeowner he did more than he actually did just to make extra money. Similarly, you can hire a lawyer who tells you the truth about your case and the risks to you, or you can hire one, guided by no moral compass, who tells you what you want to hear so he can make money off you.
As for the English professor who will not place a Christian bumper sticker on his car because he knows his conduct is unbecoming, perhaps he should reevaluate and alter the conduct. If you aren't willing to proclaim that you belong to Jesus and accept the persecution, consequences etc thereof, Jesus isn't going proclaim that you belong to him when you stand before the Father.
In this day, a business stands up for its religious beliefs and someone screams discrimination or wrongful discharge. It takes alot of guts for a business to stand up publicly for what the owners believe in. I wish more businesses would stand up for their beliefs. Perhaps you should visit the website and see for yourself what they are about:

WOW! With the language Lisa used in her comment it's hard for me to believe that she is even remotely a christian person!
and remember religion is a choice.
If you want a colorful and sometimes harsh debate, then mention "Religion or Politics" In "my opinion" being just that; "MY OPINION" There are points that can be discussed both pro and con. But if a man or woman does their best and gives 100% to the profession they have chosen, then mention God, Country, or their 2nd cousin, I could care less. Just deal with your customers with fair and honest work. In all fairness I believe they were simply trying to say, I will do my very best, be honest and forthright in my profession, and personal life. Loosen up people and look at the "WHOLE" picture, not just some tiny fragment that you think should be painted a different color or shade. By the way I think God and heaven is just a fairy tale. NOW lets talk bad about them Republicans and Democrats. Lying, no good for nothing, egg sucking. sum beaches. Alvin M.
